Where to Stay for Super Bowl XLVII in New Orleans

by Devon on January 28, 2013

It’s that time of year again, when football fans gather around the big-screen to witness the greatest day in American sports. And this year, a lucky few (thousand) fans will make the trek down to New Orleans to see the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens face off in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Because we’re big fans of the Big Easy, we found the best places to stay on game day, no matter which team you’re rooting for — And we’re not about to say which side of the dome we’ll be sitting on!

Stay: The InterContinental New Orleans

Just down the block from the Superdome, this hotel gets fans close to the action.

You can’t get much closer to the action than the InterContinental New Orleans, just a two-minute drive from the Superdome. This Central Business District hotel not only boasts a great location for Super Bowlers, but also has a heated rooftop pool and a savvy concierge who can offer all the inside tips on navigating through the sure-to-be-packed.

Stay: Hilton New Orleans Riverside

This resort-like hotel is perfect for Ravens or 49ers fans.

With another prime location a few blocks from the Superdome, the Hilton Riverside feels like a resort in the midst of the business district. When the game is over, guests can enjoy the hotel’s great perks, such as an arcade, two pools, a delicious seafood restaurant that both coastal fans can enjoy, and a full-service spa because — let’s face it — it’s gonna be a tense game.

Stay: Loft 523 New Orleans

Cool and hip, Loft 523 is a great place to celebrate the win, or mourn the loss.

The uber-cool Loft 523 hotel is a trendy industrial-style boutique about a five-minute drive from the Superdome. The 18-room property sits on the more luxurious side of area hotels, and football fans will appreciate the hip on-site nightclub, perfect for celebrating — or drowning your sorrows — post-game.

Stay: International House Hotel

Leave the Ice House at home when you stay at the International House.

The posh International House is another boutique option about five minutes from the arena. The hotel is a celeb hot-spot, so chances are good that fans might run into a famous face or town, also in town for the Super Bowl. The hotel even has a popular, inventive cocktail lounge on-site, so no need to bust out the Ice House or Natty Light if you’re tailgating on this lot.
