Rooms at Le Montrose Suite Hotel are 40% off right now

Maybe you’re a traveler who always has his bags packed, ready to hop on a plane for a weekend getaway whenever a good opportunity arises. Or maybe it’s been way too long since you got away, and the deadline for using your dusty vacation days is drawing ever nearer.

Whatever the case, we thought we’d share our favorite hotel sales going on right now, whether they’ll help you plan a long overdue trip, or you just want to scour the best of what travel has to offer this week. The prices shown below are for this coming weekend, just to give you a sense of the deals that are out there. Feel free to click on your hotel of choice and plug in your own travel dates to see adjusted prices.

Le Montrose Suite Hotel
Hollywood/West Hollywood, Los Angeles

  • Rooms for this weekend start at an average of $179/night, down from $298
  • You save 40 percent

Why we love it: A plain yet comfortable all-suite property, Le Montrose is steps from Sunset Boulevard but far enough away to be a tranquil retreat. A rooftop pool and tennis court — along with a decent fitness center and sauna — are the sum of the amenities, but many guests are just happy to order room service and enjoy their 52-inch flat-screen TVs. The Betsy Hotel in Miami is on sale now for Labor Day Weekend

Like it or not, Labor Day is just around the corner. While no one wants to think about summer ending, it’s never too early to think about your Labor Day plans, especially if your plans include booking a hotel and a plane flight.

Right now many of our favorite Miami hotels are running sales for Labor Day weekend, so we thought we’d tell you a bit about the hotels and the savings they’re offering. But don’t delay in making a decision, as these sales will likely vanish as the holiday weekend draws nearer.

The below hotels all have Oyster ratings of 4 pearls (out of 5) or above, so you know you can’t go wrong choosing any of these options — these are truly some of our favorite hotels in Miami. The sale price we’re showing is the average per night during Labor Day weekend.

Betsy Hotel

  • List Price: $264/night
  • Sale Price: $211/avg. per night
  • Location: South Beach
  • Pearl rating: 4

After a $40 million overhaul, the Betsy reopened in 2009 with a beautiful rooftop spa and solarium, a renowned restaurant (BLT steak), and bright, charming rooms. The pool’s a bit disappointing, and the rooms aren’t as large as the Mondrian’s, but for tasteful luxury and a rare dose of tranquility on Ocean Drive, this is where it’s at.

All-you-can-drink and a spectacular beach, for only $124 a night!

The Barcelo Bavaro Palace: all-you-can-drink and a spectacular beach for only $151 a night!

Now is the perfect time to plan a Caribbean vacation. The weather’s not yet sweltering, the spring break price hikes have come to an end, and hurricanes won’t hit the shores until July (or, more likely, August). As resorts ready themselves for the summer lull, rates drop across the board. But competition is fierce, and that’s why we’ve been able to secure some extraordinary deals on a few of our favorite all-inclusive resorts.

Check out the bargains (up to 40% off the standard rate) after the jump… Read More »

Kimpton Hotels, like the Hotel Rex in San Francisco, offer free wine hours to guests.

Free wine receptions are becoming increasingly popular; above, the lounge at Hotel Rex, a Joie de Vivre property in San Francisco.

It’s no secret that we at Oyster hate overpriced package deals, so-called resort fees, high Internet costs, and the myriad other ways hotels nickel-and-dime their guests. But now and then, instead of surprising us with extra costs, a hotel will surprise us in the best possible way – by giving us something free. These small touches can make your stay special, elevating a budget property to a true value, or a luxury property to one of the best of the best.

Check out this list of 11 great freebies and the hotels that give them away.

The Luxor Hotel & Casino, one of many Vegas hotels running promotions right now

The Luxor Hotel & Casino, one of many Vegas hotels running promotions right now

As hotel mavens, we’re constantly reading about travel deals, be it on Twitter, on blogs, or right in our email in-boxes. Lately we’ve noticed that one city keeps popping up over and over again. That city?

Las Vegas.

With rock-bottom prices on flights and hotel rooms (plus plenty of buffets to boot), Sin City is our pick for where to have a cheap (and warm!) getaway right now. Shop wisely and we’ll bet you can plan a long weekend for just a few hundred dollars (okay, so that doesn’t include all the money you’re going to blow at the craps tables).

Lobby of the Four Seasons Boston, which is currently offering a third night free promotion

Lobby of the Four Seasons Boston, which is currently offering a third night free promotional deal

Suddenly it seems hotels everywhere are offering the same promotion: Buy two nights and get a third one free. Though some bargain hunters might scoff at the offer as nothing more than the deal-du-jour, we say a deal’s a deal — and any deal that cuts your daily room rate by 33% is nothing to sneeze at. Especially if it means getting one night free at super luxe properties such as these, and potentially saving more than $800 (as you could at the St. Regis New York)!

Here are some of our favorite hotels that are currently running a 3-for-2 promotion:

Los Angeles is a pricey place to stay. If you’re not careful, a night in the land of the rich and famous might cost you a pretty penny (unless you find a Vinny Chase-like gentleman to foot the bills for you). But you don’t necessarily have to forgo location, comfort, and trendiness to score a decent hotel deal. We’ve rounded up our picks for the best value hotels in Los Angeles; the spots that give you the most bang for your buck — and even some luxury hotels at impressively reasonable prices.

The Standard Hollywood

Lobby, the Standard Hollywood
Lobby, the Standard Hollywood

This 137-room hip boutique offers stylish lodgings and a prime Sunset Strip location. The hallways and elevators are scuffed, but you won’t get this much (stylish rooms with good bedding, a cool pool, a cheap 24-hour restaurant, and great nightlife) for this little elsewhere on the Strip.
