We met the guys of Delta Spirit at Austin City Limits just a few weeks ago and were instantly hooked on the band’s modern take on rock music. Currently on tour (catch them in San Diego tonight), the band spends plenty of time on the road and share our love — and extensive knowledge of — travel. So we caught up with the group’s lead singer, Matt Vasquez, for a little Q&A to get his take on what makes (and breaks) a vacation. Check it out after the jump!

Oyster and Delta Spirit met up at Austin City Limits a few weeks ago. Here, the band huddles up before going on the ACL stage.
@deltaspirit tweeted this pic during tour rehearsal. Matt really loves food and beer! Be sure to check out his blog.
Though their tour is back on schedule, the band's Hawaii show was cancelled because of a tsunami threat. Talk about a good story!

Really cool reading about this band in relation to the topic of travel. Earlier this year (right around when their album came out and I was a couple listens deep), I impulsively bought a bike (named it after the band) and headed south to California from Canada listening to the new album every day, pedalling 100kms a day. Perfect soundtrack to my west coast epic into the wild bike ride. I’m excited to finally see them this year in Detroit in two weeks time.
