Mark Twain once said “In America, there is New York, San Francisco, and New Orleans. Everywhere else is Cleveland.” In what’s arguably one of the most culturally unique cities in the country, it’s easy to see what he meant. Of course, it’s the birthplace of Jazz and home of epic Mardi Gras celebrations, but the city itself has much more depth than that, including legendary cuisine, historic architecture, and a buzzing nightlife. Spring is one of the best times to make your way to NoLa, not only so you can avoid the sweltering summer temperatures, but also so you can take advantage of the New Orleans Jazz Festival, French Quarter Festival, and Bayou Boogaloo.
Every so often, our editors curate the best of the best — or as Oyster likes to call ‘em, our Half Dozen. (Ed note: We obviously couldn’t resist that one.) Now that beach season is around the corner, it’s time to start busting our butts into bikini-approved shape. And while travel is an easy excuse for skipping a workout, we found six incredible hotels that’ll keep you fit until you fly home. Watch the video above, and check out more of Oyster on TV now for an inside peek into the Hotel Tell-All’s favorite spots.
Update: Our latest version was so impressive that the App Store asked to feature it — which we did. The best part? Having a “featured” app can increase our site’s organic traffic by three or four times as much!
Perhaps we’re taking a little bit of liberty when we caption this photo, taken at the Venetian Resort Hotel Casino‘s Oxygen Bar in Las Vegas. However, we can’t help but think that the bar is a bit reminiscent of heavier substances. Check out our caption after the jump, then add your own in the comments section below!

Every March, Washington D.C.’s historical Tidal Basin area is filled with blooming cherry trees — and hoards of tourists coming to take pictures of the breathtaking flowers. Today, in fact, marks the kick-off of the National Cherry Blossom Festival, which runs only through April 27 — so you only have a small window to catch the flowers in all their glory. According to the Festival, the average bloom’s peak date is April 4 — a week and a half away, so get on booking one of these super-luxe spots or their cost-friendly alternatives ASAP. After months of chilly, blustery weather — it’s official: Spring has sprung! We can literally smell it in the air. Check out our favorite open-air spots after the jump, then tell us: How do you celebrate the arrival of spring?
A small, romantic resort that once drew Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller, the Jamaica Inn is about quiet luxury — a single thatch-roofed bar, a small pool, and beautiful rooms with open walls, oversize terraces and soft, colonial décor. This is not the place to party, as the resort totally shuts down around midnight — but who needs late night entertainment when you’ve got nature at your own fingertips?

The upscale W South Beach has a sleek, modern vibe that attracts a beautiful crowd more focused on lounging in the sun than partying or forced family fun. Dense palms, colorful cushions set along the grass, and sexy wood-latticed cabanas (that cost extra, of course) surround the pool. There’s no club-minded DJ, but rather ambient spa sounds and mellow, remixed classic rock floating through the speakers. But the large, meticulously-designed rooms, with white ceramic floors with a wood-grain finish, metal-studded doors, and rock-and-roll photography, the W rooms rival the best in South Beach, especially given every room’s ocean-angled terrace.
