Visiting London for the Olympics is all about watching in awe as the world’s top athletes compete — and simultaneously zoning out the crowds, because you certainly won’t be the only person hopping across the pond to cheer for your country. Over half a million spectators are expected at the games this summer, and you know what that means: There’s bound to be a celebrity or two in the crowd. So if you don’t mind having your eye wander off the events just a bit, you may have a star sighting. How do you increase your chances of running into a celeb in the flesh? Stay at a hotel frequented by them, of course. We’ve found four of the best London hotels for the best chance of gawking at your favorite stars. The Lanesborough Suite at The Lanesborough, a St. Regis Hotel
Why They Love It: The Lanesborough is a luxurious property overlooking Hyde Park in Knightsbridge. The 93 rooms have palatial bathrooms, big flat-screen TVs, and free butler service. Stately decor is inspired by the early 19th century, and free Wi-Fi and laptops are available in every room. Hotel highlights include fine dining at the Michelin-rated restaurant Apsleys, a ground floor piano bar, and traditional afternoon tea, but celebs really love this spot’s discretion: Stars are often put up in the Royal Suite, which has an undisclosed location within the hotel. Even very few Lanesborough employees know where to find it in order to ensure the utmost privacy.

Los Angeles is awesome whichever way you look at it. Despite its reputation of having few attractions for tourists and huge distances to cover to get to any of them, L.A. has plenty to offer with top-notch restaurants, world-class museums, a vibrant nightlife scene, and wonderful beaches that attract millions of visitors every year. But it’s good to take a break from all the buzz sometimes and head somewhere new, be it a more relaxed spot for some serious R&R, or the perfect stretch of sand for surfing. So whether you’re in town visiting and want to mix it up a bit, or you’re a resident and want to get away from it all, start packing and hit the road! We’ve got the perfect nearby spots that are just a short drive away.
Road Trip #1: Los Angeles to Orange County, CA
- Total Driving Time:1 hour
- Distance Covered:51 miles
- Take This Trip If: You’re ready for some pampering
It'a all about fun in the sun and easy living here in the O.C.
Don't you just want to take a dip in the Coliseum Pool at the Pelican Hill?
Have lunch with a view at the Montage Laguna Beach
Orange County is known for its well-heeled residents and high prices, but if you want to get some serious R&R, it’s the place to be. This string of uncrowded beaches is a good pick for families, but the area is popular among couples as well for its bucolic landscape and unparalleled sunsets. The beaches (and the waves) are definitely the main draw. If you’re planning a trip with the family, the ultra-luxe Pelican Hill is a wonderful choice. The property boasts two great golf courses, along with a plethora of other amenities, such as two gorgeous pools, a world-class spa, a fitness center, and a top-notch kids’ club. If it’s just you and your significant other, the Montage Laguna Beach is great for spending some quality time together. It offers an excellent spa, impeccable grounds, and beautiful rooms with breathtaking views.
- Top Driving Tip: The fastest and shortest way to get there is the Santa Ana Freeway, but if you’ve got some time to spare, Cabrillo Highway (SR 1) is the most scenic. Along the way you’ll see gorgeous beaches and rolling hills.

If You’re Looking For: A Crazy Party
Hit This Beach: Medano Beach; Cabo San Lucas
Medano Beach at the Cabo Villas Beach Resort and Spa
Why Partiers Love It: It’s Cabo, baby! The infamous line associated with the town of Cabo San Lucas reflects its hard-partying atmosphere which makes it a popular choice among college-aged spring breakers. But Medano Beach has something for revelers of all ages — as long as you’re down to get in on the fun, of course. The soft, sandy beach is lined by bars — everything from inexpensive dives to upscale cocktail lounges. And no shirt, no problem!
Where to Stay: Almost all 142 units of the Cabo Villas are romantic, airy and bright — with modern décor, stylish fixtures, and spacious balconies with stunning views. The ocean-side location is convenient for party people — Medano Beach’s shores may be teeming with vendors and tourists, yet guests can find a bit of a reprieve (if they choose) at the hotel’s beach bar and sushi joint, Baja Cantina.

When we travel, we like to let loose — after all, isn’t a vacation all about leisure? Whether you like dancing on a nightclub’s tables or swimming in a pool full of….errr…bodily fluids, we’ve got a hotel for the party animal in every single one of you. Get ready to rage!
The hotel's entrance pre-makeover...
...and after. Don't you love the bold address?
OMG, you guys! Just as we were about to start writing our recap of last night’s insane episode of Hotel Impossible, we were informed that the Anthony Melchiorri — aka the intrepid host of Hotel Impossible — was in our very own conference room. [Ed note: We couldn't help but be a little starstruck, come on now. Our business is hotels!] Anyway, as we were saying, last night was truly epic. Let’s just say Anthony, designer Blanche Garcia, and the many helpers involved turned a sh*thole into a 3-pearl hotel that could easily attract hoards of Spring Breakers and beachcombers along the Gulf during its peak season. And with Corpus Christi attracting over 6 million tourists per year, it was critical that the Hotel Corpus Christi Bayfront make some improvements, Anthony style obvi. Find out our favorite moments from last night after the jump!

Don’t worry: If you’ve been hearing a “mmmcha, mmmcha, mmmcha,” beat growing steadily louder, you’re not going crazy. It’s just the approach of the ULTRA Music Festival, which kicks off in Miami in less than two weeks. Electronic music fans from around the world will be flocking to Bayfront Park for DJ sets from the likes of Tiesto, Justice, Duck Sauce, David Guetta, Armin Van Buuren, and even the pioneers of electronic music themselves, Kraftwerk. Luckily for festival goers, Miami serves as a perfect backdrop, providing plenty of ways to keep the parties going late into the night (and in many cases right on through to the next). Our guide to the ULTRA Festival should help you book the perfect room to fit your personality.
The Outdoor Pool at The Setai; Miami, FL
If you’ve hired David Guetta to play one of your parties, consider…
Miami is known for many things, but subtle flaunting of one’s wealth has never been one of them. The Setai is the epitome of this crowd, where gorgeous design meets massive rooms (they start at 600 square feet) and a killer location on a posh stretch of Collins Avenue. You can expect to pay out the nose for the luxury, of course, but if you’re looking to be surrounded by the members of the 1% who also love electronic music, it’s almost impossible to do better.
Our pro tip: The on-site restaurants might look pretty, but the food is actually so-so at best. Luckily, most of Miami’s best restaurants are just half a block away.
