The 132-room Hotel Terra is a trendy, eco-friendly ski lodge; it may look like your typical Jackson Hole hotel from the outside, but once inside it proves to be a step above — and a touch more  stylish –than many other area hotels. The lobby has fireplaces and the requisite antler-adorned walls, but they’re complemented by bright, modern furniture, accent walls, and funky light fixtures. The rooms are equally sleek but a tad cozier, with dark wood furniture, moss-green throws, modern amenities like flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and free Wi-Fi, and organic toiletries in the bathrooms (complete with radiant flooring). Though families are welcome, couples will especially love this romantic lodge for its sexy rooftop Jacuzzi and the delicous Osteria restaurant that boasts an impressive wine list. THE SEX APPEAL: Tricked-out lighting and offbeat decor set the tone at this funky addition to the South Beach hotel scene. Although the sitting and sleeping spaces are actually combined, the oversize, plush king bed makes for a fantastic sleep — and should things get hot and heavy on the couch, it’s not far to the bed. If it gets really hot, there’s even more good news: The Dream has windows that actually open for a delicious breeze. Head upstairs to Highbar for a nightcap on one of their retro wicker lounges before holing up in your suite for the night.

The room provides plenty of space (its almost 1,100 square feet), complete with a full wet bar and icemaker, dual-sink bathroom with Jacuzzi, and a dreamy bed, too. Since you’re stuck on the property — there’s nothing around the hotel — the Marriott provides the perfect place to spend some serious QT with your significant other.

The Spectacular Studio’s unique design manages to feel warm despite its graphic black-and-white color blocking. The Cippolino marble-covered bathroom is incredible, too, with an oversize, glass-door shower that practically invites someone to take a peek (in a good way, of course). Just let the four shower heads do their work and rain all over you.

WHY SPLASH AROUND HERE: Party-seeking, money-saving folks flock to this vibrant all-inclusive resort in the middle of nowhere — which doesn’t seem to bother its guests. In addition to its lively pool activities, the hotel features regular karaoke and a bitchin’ disco where plenty of people boogie down.

THE HOTEL: Room Mate Grace; New York City, NY

WHY SPLASH AROUND HERE: Well, for starters, Room Mate Grace offers New York City‘s only swim-up bar — practically in the lobby. (There’s also a 24-hour steam room and sauna to enjoy, too.) But the party to check out here is on Wednesday nights for the gay-friendly crowd; tales from nights here have been legendary. The hotel’s location isn’t so bad too, located smack in the middle of the city: The heart of Times Square.

THE HOTEL: Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel; Los Angeles, CA

WHY SPLASH AROUND HERE: This iconic, literal LA landmark is not only situated on Hollywood Boulevard and the Walk of Fame, but is also a serious celebrity haunt, particularly so for its nightly pool parties. The velvet rope is difficult to get past, but if you do, expect to see more than one starlet making out in a cabana with her boyfriend of the week. Drinks are pricey, but alas, so is fame.

THE HOTEL: Breezes Trelawny Resort; Montego Bay, Jamaica

WHY SPLASH AROUND HERE: This value-minded resort (OK, the rooms are a bit dingy and dated) places its emphasis on its killer pools — including a kids-only one with an 84-foot waterslide. The all-inclusive spot has mediocre food, but lots of fun in the sun — the family pool features in-water billiards, tables, and other resort-organized activities. Head to the lobby bar at night to keep the party going.

THE HOTEL: Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino; Las Vegas, NV

WHY SPLASH AROUND HERE: Off the strip location aside (it’s actually in the older Downtown area), the Golden Nugget boasts all the bells and whistles of its mega-resort counterparts, but at a more reasonable price, too. Since its 2005 renovation, the pool‘s become the main attraction: Known as the Tank, it’s three stories tall and features a large waterslide that winds through a massive shark tank. Don’t worry, though, you won’t get bit.

THE HOTEL: The Standard Miami; Miami, FL

WHY SPLASH AROUND HERE: The adults-only (14+) Standard is about a mile from the beach, but it’s still super hip. The 24-hour pool attracts a sexy following  — probably because the hot tubs stay open, too. Did we mention the 24-hour sauna is coed, too? While the hotel itself may have a lower-key vibe, the full South Beach glitz scene is only a $12 cab ride away, should body paint and bottomless drink pool parties not suffice.

THE HOTEL: Riu Negril Club All-Inclusive; Negril, Jamaica

WHY SPLASH AROUND HERE: For whatever reason, the Riu Negril attracts one of the friendliest, party-focused crowds out of any hotel we’ve reviewed. Maybe it’s the very solid buffet food, but likely because of the lively scene — the pools are packed with revelers at pretty much any hour. And although rooms are sparse, a beach vacation here is well worth the not-so-hefty price tag.

Think of a nude beach as your new and improved wingman — its mere presence allows you to skip the whole how-do-I-get-him-or-her-out-of-their-clothes predicament. So come and get the skinny on our favorite nude beaches for one hot date this Valentine’s Day.

The Nude Beach: Haulover Beach; Miami, FL
The Best Hotel for the Beach: ONE Bal Harbour Resort & Spa

WHY WE LOVE THE BEACH: Though Miami is topless-friendly just about everywhere, Haulover Beach is the only true nude beach in this spring break hotspot. The waters are crystal clear, the soft sand is debris-free, plus there are tons of on-beach amenities. Haulover has lifeguards (in swimsuits, unfortunately), food and drink vendors, and plenty of organized activities like birthday-suit volleyball, although we recommend not going for the save.

WHY WE WANT TO STAY HERE: Less than a 5-minute drive from Haulover Beach, ONE Bal Harbour has a prime location for seeing some skin. Plus, this luxury resort has massive suites, a 10,000-square-foot spa, and over $4 million dollars worth of modern art.

The Nude Beach: Saline Beach; St. Barts
The Best Hotel for the Beach: Hotel Carl Gustaf

WHY WE LOVE THE BEACH: One of the poshest islands in all the Caribbean, St. Barts attracts tons of celebs (Beyonce, Jay-Z, Orlando Bloom, Demi Moore, to name a ew) and Saline Beach is no different. This uber-secluded, romantic beach has even been the backdrop for several Sports Illustrated swimsuit shoots. But we advise packing your bags and heading there soon — Andre Balazs’s controversial plans to build a luxury resort along the beach seem to be moving forward.

WHY WE WANT TO STAY HERE: The Carl Gustaf embodies the tony French Riviera style of St. Barts with mind-blowing ocean views, first-class service, and a level of exclusivity that comes from having just 14 rooms. This place doesn’t come cheap — but each suite and villa comes with its own private pool or plunge pool and private terrace (many overlooking the ocean).

The Nude Beach: Runaway Bay; Jamaica
The Best Hotel for the Beach: Gran Bahia Principe Jamaica

WHY WE LOVE THE BEACH: The nude beach at the Gran Bahia is a good choice for low-key folks legitimately interested in naked sunbathing. The clothing-optional spot sits on the far western edge of the property, and is blocked off by a tall fence so you don’t have to worry about the kids accidentally checking out some T&A. Plus, when you’re in your bathing suit, the clothing-mandatory beach (adjacent to its nude counterpart) is equally as beautiful, and is great for snorkeling.

WHY WE WANT TO STAY HERE: Do you have to ask? Because the nude beach is on the hotel’s property, of course!

The Nude Beach: Wreck Beach; Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
The Best Hotel for the Beach: Shangri-La Hotel, Vancouver

WHY WE LOVE THE BEACH: While it’s a little too chilly to hit this spot now (shrinkage is not cute), but as Vancouver‘s first — and largest — nude beach, Wreck Beach is visited by thousands of people every year. Right by the University of British Columbia, the spot definitely has a party vibe, but it also serves as a wildlife refuge for bald eagles and kingfishers.

WHY WE WANT TO STAY HERE: One of the most luxurious hotels in Vancouver (heck, in all of Canada), the Shangri-La has a Jean-Georges restaurant, a hip spa, and downright sexy marble-and-granite bathrooms complete with flat-screen TVs. Being less than 20 minutes from Wreck Beach is a nice perk, too.

The Nude Beach: Black’s Beach; San Diego, CA
The Best Hotel for the Beach: Estancia La Jolla Hotel & Spa

WHY WE LOVE THE BEACH: This spot is not for the shy. North America’s largest nude beach, Black’s Beach draws a big crowd with it’s large surfer-friendly waves, picturesque setting along California‘s cliffs, and clothing-optional policies. It’s also an easy drive from La Jolla and Torrey Pines.

WHY WE WANT TO STAY HERE: We die for the Spanish-Colonial-style architecture at the Estancia La Jolla. And the outdoor fireplace is a great place to cozy up.

The Nude Beach: Playitas Beach; Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica

WHY WE LOVE THE BEACH: Playitas is a gorgeous, untouched beach in super-lush Costa Rica. When we visited, we even spotted monkeys prancing across the sand. Surfers and swimmers alike can enjoy this beach as waves are mid-size – big enough to hang ten but not strong enough to scare off an experienced swimmer.

WHY WE WANT TO STAY HERE: The Arenas Del Mar Beach and Nature Resort provides golf cart service to the secluded beach, just five minutes from the hotel. Many of the 38 rooms have ocean views, too.

The Nude Beach: Baker Beach; San Francisco, CA
The Best Hotel for the Beach: Laurel Inn

WHY WE LOVE THE BEACH: It may not host Burning Man anymore, but this beach still has a reputation for being a fun spot — just without clothing now. Only the northern end of this half-mile stretch of sand, which boasts beautiful views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge, is clothing-optional so be sure to read the signs before ditching your string bikini.

WHY WE WANT TO STAY HERE: Laurel Inn has loads of freebies that make us smile: free Wi-Fi, a free glass of wine at a nearby cocktail lounge, free coffee and tea in the lobby, and free lemonade and freshly baked cookies every afternoon. Don’t you feel free now?

The Nude Beach: Little Beach; Maui, HI
The Best Hotel for the Beach: Makena Beach and Golf Resort

WHY WE LOVE THE BEACH: It’s always fun to break the rules, Little Beach does just that. Nude sunbathing is technically illegal in Hawaii, but this rule hasn’t been enforced at Little Beach in years, making it a popular spot to disrobe. Visitors swim, sunbathe, surf, and even keep their eyes open for the occasional whale spotting.

WHY WE WANT TO STAY HERE: Start your day at the beautiful and scenic 18-hole golf course at the Makena Beach and Golf Resort. The hotel is set on a fabulous snorkeling beach so afterwards you can look at fishies with the kids — or head to Little Beach to bask in all your (nude) glory.

The Nude Beach: San Gregorio; San Mateo, Silicon Valley, CA

WHY WE LOVE THE BEACH: This popular spot avoids overcrowding by often charging a small admission fee (no one wants to be stacked like sardines at a nude beach anyways…right?) San Gregorio is also one of the most gay-friendly beaches in California, and though the waves can be rough, plenty of on-sand activities, like surf-fishing, take place daily.

WHY WE WANT TO STAY HERE: This historic bed and breakfast features just four cozy rooms, outfitted with charming features such as walls full of books, fireplaces, hardwood floors, and chandeliers.

The Nude Beach: Orient Beach; St. Martin/St. Maarten

WHY WE LOVE THE BEACH: On the French side of the island, Orient Beach is a popular hangout on the exclusive island of St. Martin. As a marine reserve, the beach boasts fabulous snorkeling and Orient Bay’s sands are lined with restaurants and bars so you won’t have to go far (or put much on) for a bite to eat.

WHY WE WANT TO STAY HERE: Located within an upscale community featuring several resorts, restaurants, and one of the island’s best beaches (well, as far as clothing-required ones go), Hotel La Plantation’s colorful Creole-style villas offer seclusion with well-spaced and stylish tropical rooms, a small but lovely restaurant, a modern pool with chic lounge seating, and beautifully lush grounds.

It may be a bit spooky — but it’s certainly sexy — and guests are free to take a dip, or they can opt (and by opt, we mean splurge) for a subterranean couples massage.

If Las Vegas is known for anything, it would have to be its party scene. And if there’s one great American party we can think of, it’d have to be Super Bowl Sunday — it seems that the entire country stops what they’re doing to tune into the NFL Championship game. But why watch on your couch with delivery pizza when you can hit up a sick party on (or off) the The Strip? Since we can’t answer that question, we found the top five hotel super bowl parties to check out in Sin City this weekend.

THE HOTEL: The Palazzo Resort Hotel Casino

THE PARTY DEAL: Usually a trendy restaurant-nightclub combo, Lavo is opening its doors for a Sunday afternoon of football — at a relatively hefty price tag. Throw down $175 to gain admission to the space — which has over 20 HD TVs set up for the event — as well as access to an open bar and unlimited Italian buffet. You can call ahead for table reservations, but we’re betting that comes at an even higher amount than just a ticket itself.

THE HOTEL’S DEAL: Big, elaborate, and packed with the kind of luxuries you see at the top Vegas resorts, the Palazzo has some of the best and biggest standard rooms on The Strip. Its world-class spa, seven pools, busy casino, and name-brand fine dining all connect to its sister property, the Venetian, via an haute couture mall. Less theme-y than many Vegas hotels, but right at the top of the list in terms of glitz and extravagance.

THE HOTEL: Wynn Las Vegas

And although the rooms here are pricey, the tickets are complimentary.

THE HOTEL’S DEAL: Remote-controlled drapes in the giant rooms, eight premier restaurants, an 18-hole golf course — the 2,716-room Wynn is one of the Strip‘s most extravagant luxury hotels. But service is a bit impersonal, and it costs an extra $30 just to use the fitness center.

THE HOTEL: The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas

THE PARTY DEAL: Although the burger-and-shake shop won’t be hosting a formal party, per se, they will be serving up team-inspired burgers to ravenous Giants and Pats fans (at a price of $16.50 per sandwich). Holstein’s also has  TVs, of course, for watching the game — but it’s the delicious food that’s the real draw. Order up “The Patriot” for “crispy New England clam strips, cole slaw, sliced tomato and Louis dressing;” the “Big Apple Burger” will feature “mozzarella cheese, roast tomato and pepperoni served on a ‘pizza foccacia’ bun with garlic aioli.” We’ll take them both!

THE HOTEL’S DEAL: At the newly-renovated Cosmopolitan, typical Vegas kitsch has been swapped out for aggressively modern design and futuristic touches (guests sign in on an iPad). Fanfare aside, rooms are large and feature comfortable, designer furnishings and modern, open bathrooms. All types of travelers seem to come here, from frat boys to gambling grandmothers, but the nights decidedly belong to the younger crowd at BOND and Marquee — as do the days, during Marquee’s seasonal “dayclub” party poolside.

THE HOTEL: Hard Rock Hotel & Casino

THE PARTY SPOT: The Joint

THE PARTY DEAL: Purchase a wristband at the Hard Rock‘s shop for $49 and score yourself some prime seating at The Joint (which is usually reserved as a concert space) to watch the game. The fee also covers unlimited, classic football munchies at stations for snacks like sliders, mini meatball subs, hot sandwiches, hot dogs, hot wings, popcorn, ice cream and nachos. (Are you full yet?) There’s also a coupon for a bucket of beer. Finish that, though, and the rest of the beverages are on you.

THE HOTEL’S DEAL: The swank Hard Rock is off the Strip, but it knows how to throw a party — Rehab, Vegas’ best pool party; go-go dancers in the casino; live music at The Joint; partying at Vanity nightclub; stylish cuisine at Nobu or Ago.

THE PARTY DEAL: For the distinctive partier, the Society Cafe is offering up a fancy Super Bowl feast: For $95, you can chow down on the restaurant’s special “Big Game Menu,” an all-you-can-eat fest that includes delicious mac ‘n cheese bites (complete with a truffle dipping sauce), warm mini donuts and pulled pork sliders. (OK, did someone plan this menu with us in mind?) Plus, the spot’s got seven plasma screens for prime viewing in a tony setting.

THE HOTEL’S DEAL: Opened in December 2008, the 2,034-room Encore is about pure opulence; not surreal, family-friendly showmanship. Its giant rooms one-up even the Wynn‘s (Encore‘s sister next door) and include such snazzy features as bedside curtain control, beautiful design, and an enormous bathroom. The rooms are truly some of the best in Vegas.

There’s nothing like a classic New York versus Boston sports game: There’s the always-dueling Red Sox and Yankees; the formidable Celtics and decent (?) New York Knicks; and of course, the new rivalry of the New England Patriots and New York Giants. This year’s Super Bowl also marks a rematch of 2008′s Big Game . Plus, you’re within a stone’s throw of Fenway Park and the TD Garden — two venues that’ll make any sports afficionado feel right at home. (At least a Boston fan.)

The restaurant is turning into a Viewing Party Lounge for the Super Bowl with a wicked cool menu that has special cocktails named after both teams and yummy appetizers such as nachos, 3-cheese crab and artichoke dip and chipotle-glazed chicken wings, the Royal Sonesta’s bar is one of the top picks for the big day.

If you’re alone or with a friend try to get the stools at the bar, where you’ll have the bartenders at hand (order up a Hummingbird cocktail and “Northern Fried” chicken wings for the menu’s best) , but call the cozy couches by the window if you’re watching the game with the gang. It hardly gets any better — or more comfortable.

If you’re in for a getaway (or a staycation), check out the hotel’s “For the Love of the Game” package, which includes a room upgrade, a late check-out, a prepaid Metrocard and a 6-pack of beer or a bottle of wine.

Although Hoboken is technically across the Hudson River from New York City, it is in New Jersey, which is also where the Giants technically play (their stadium is in East Rutherford, NJ) — so we had to give a little love to NYC’s neighbor to the west. For $40, you can get VIP Entry to the W’s Living Room Viewing Party (an always-plush place to knock back a few), which includes a choice of food dish with side (We’ll have the Meatball Pizza, thanks), five drink tickets, and free hand and arm massages courtesy of in-house spa Bliss. Why We Love It: The trendy NYC ambiance simply rules. Although the food — which is thai — is only so-so on a good day at this combo bar/restaurant, the romantic atmosphere makes up for its over salted fare. Eclectic music (think French renditions of silly American nursery rhymes) adds to the quirky-chic vibe,  just be prepared to shell out a few bucks: Everything’s more expensive in Manhattan.

The Hotel: Hotel Monteleone; New Orleans, LA

Why We Love It: It’s everything that Bourbon Street spots aren’t. Even though Carousel Bar is a mere block from the French Quarter nightlife that New Orleans is renowned for, the vibe is other-wordly here. Watch the stationary bartenders as you circle around the bar — it’s kind of dizzying — while taking in Southern charm and delicious drinks. For a sweet treat, get the Tiramisu martini.

The Bar: Angels and Kings

Why We Love It: Rocker Pete Wentz moved his Chicago bar into the Hard Rock’s space at the beginning of the year — hopefully breathing some new life into an already old-news place. But the lush couches, cool artwork and no-velvet rope policy make this a perfect spot to get to know someone in a cozy environment. But don’t bring anyone expecting a list — the bar maintains a “come as you are” policy, meaning no one’s (not even sweatpants over there) turned away at the door.

Why We Love It: Impressive digital artistry makes the Redwood Room a true standout — have you noticed the portraits’ eyes following you? — but the dark, seductive ambiance is suggestive of a 1930s speakeasy, which is pretty much the sexiest spot ever. Avoid the 55+, bottle-service crowd (sorry Mom and Dad!) by planting yourselves appropriately at a 2-top table.

The bartenders here are epic — customers have sworn the drinks are some of the best they’ve had in their lives – just like the spicy lemonade is. Make sure there’s a fire roaring for a touch of extra romance.

However, the bar is ideal for those looking for an off-the-cuff (read: non-clubby) night out. Drink the Hot Chili Dragonfruit cocktail for extra spring in your step — anything fruity is this bar’s unofficial specialty.

The Hotel: Magnolia Hotel Denver; Denver, CO

The Bar: The Lounge

The Lounge at Magnolia Hotel Denver; Denver, CO

Why We Love It: The contemporary decor — look at those insanely plush couches(!) — modernize an otherwise simple spot that’s great for snuggling. The food is pretty good should you grow an appetite, and if things get really awkward, grab a cue and play a few rounds of billiards with your date. At least you’ll have something to talk about.

If your soon-to-be-fiance is the active type, strap on your snowshoes and take her to a secluded spot on one of the property’s many trails. Beside the lake or in the teepee are also romantic spots for popping the question.

A love song can make any girl (and some guys, too) swoon. Bring your significant other to the recording studio and serenade her with a song asking “Will you marry me?” Or if vocals aren’t really your thing, book a suite with an ocean view and get down on one knee.

Hotel: &Beyond Xaranna Okavango Delta Camp in Botswana

This ultra-remote, luxurious safari lodge on an island in Botswana’s Okavango Delta isn’t a hotel, it’s an experience, where everything — including the excellent food and the guided excursions (game drives, bush walks, river cruises) — is included in the price of the stay. Guests can get up close to exotic wildlife on both land and water (think: lions and hippos), and even arriving to the property is an adventure, requiring transport by small plane, safari vehicle, and a boat. The nine safari “tents” are fully screened in and thoroughly high-end, with huge soaking tubs, four-poster beds, lots of wood, and private pools.

Best Spots for Proposing:
Your valentine may be gaga for Prince William but that’s just because he’s a hopeless romantic (and the British accent certainly doesn’t hurt). Propose like a royal (William proposed to Kate Middleton in a secluded cabin in Kenya) by popping the question in one of the camp’s luxurious, airy tents. Beside the private pool is a great spot.

Hotel: Calistoga Ranch, An Auberge Resort in Napa Valley

Attention to detail carries over from room design to landscape planning — all modules for the lodges were flown in by helicopter to minimize impact on surrounding trees and to maximize privacy. The property boasts plenty of activities, including outdoor yoga, a beautiful heated outdoor pool, a bocce court, a fabulous fitness center, and wine tasting seminars.

Just about everywhere at Calistoga Ranch is romantic enough for a proposal. If you’ll need some liquid courage, take your better half to the private wine cave. Or if you want to keep it really intimate and cozy, snuggle up in front of the working fireplace in the room or soak in the private Jacuzzi.

Hotel: Travaasa Hana in Maui

The Travaasa Hana hotel overlooking Hana Bay delivers rustic luxury in the middle of Maui‘s lush, secluded east coast. The rooms are large, clean, sleekly furnished — and stripped of TVs, clocks, and radios. Hard to reach, but worth the trip.

Best Spots for Proposing:
Situated along craggy cliffs on the rainforest-like east coast of Maui, hours from other big resorts, the Travaasa offers guests ample chances to be alone (and get down on one knee!). Nearby waterfalls and hidden beaches are ideal for a romantic proposal after a hike (the concierge can direct you on how to get to them) and afterwards couples can take a dip in the infinity pool or the Honua Spa’s outdoor lava-rock pool.

Presidents Day is just around the corner and of course that makes us reflect on our country’s leaders — and Obama’s State of the Union Address tonight at 9 p.m. EST. But c’mon, we’re a hotel website so what it really makes us think about is presidential suites. The most lavish accommodations in hotels, presidential suites are fit for, well, presidents. In fact, they reportedly got their name from President Woodrow Wilson, who had a strict list of requirements for his hotel rooms.
